When I was a kid, Mom would wash all the clothes, and when they came out of the dryer they would go in a big pile. When all the clothes were washed, we would all take armfuls of clothes from the pile, and help move the pile into the living room. Once all the clothes were in the living room, we would each pick a spot to sit, and then we turned on a movie, and folded. Folding clothes time was always super fun because we loved, loved, loved watching movies. A lot of times we would watch The wonderful World of Disney, or the Disney Channel, because those were the days when most people did not own their own VCR. You had to rent a VCR along with your video at the video store. Sometimes we did that, but most of the time we just watched what we could get on our TV. (Streaming had definitely not been invented yet. Neither had DVDs).
The movie would start, and mom would start sorting the clothes. She would pick up an article of clothing, and toss it to whoever it belonged to, and they would fold it. As the movie played on, the big pile of laundry got smaller, while our stacks of folded clothes got taller. And at the end of the movie, everyone put away their own clothes.
I don't do laundry that way these days, but I will admit that this method could really accomplish a lot of folding in not a lot of time.
